Mahavira Mahadarshana likeLatha’s earlier epics, is a masterwork resulting in the fruition of her literary endeavors. A Striking feature of this work is by placing the luminous persona of Mahavira in the middle of the story offering the grand vision of the jain rreligion along with its cultural ethos and thus dons the role of an epic. In fact the epic as such is the winner. The treatment of panchakalyana is both effective and excellent. And the persona of Mahavira dazzles through all this. In its totality Dr. Latha’s Mahaveera Mahadarshana is an epic endowed with all the characteristics that one can expect in an epic.
One of the tenets of this work is its conviction that all religions are equal. Imbibing such values into its fine fabric the work declares that all human beings are equal. In 2013 this work was taken in a grand procession through the streets of Mysore city before it was released in the presence of thousands of people. Consisting of over 800 pages this work spreads across 146 chapters. It is now being translated into Hindi.
